Our wonderful Gail Clark is moving on in her career to an exciting job opportunity with Hamilton City Libraries – a great career move for her and certainly our loss and Hamilton’s win. Her last day with us is Thursday, 9 April 2020.

Many of you would have got to know Gail over the past 23 years she has worked with Upper Hutt Libraries. She has been our Team Leader Access and Content for the last few years, but has been in charge of looking after our collections, both digital and print, for a lot longer. It is thanks to her that we have got such great collections in our Libraries for our customers to enjoy.

Gail's achievements over the years are a testament to her professionalism and passion for public libraries. Recently, she has been busy continually reviewing and improving our digital resources including our magazine and eBook collections; implementing our digital streaming services with Kanopy and Beamafilm; introducing the popular Fastback collection and Dyslexic friendly resources; and working with our heritage staff to support the growth of Recollect, our digital heritage archive. On top of all this, she has always promoted browsable and easy access to all our collections with improved layouts and collection displays.

She has also provided a positive contribution to the Libraries Lead Team – always with a customer lens to help keep us focussed on delivering excellent customer experience both in the Libraries and online. We will miss her cheery smile and positive influence on the team, but wish her all the very best for her future career.

Recruitment for her replacement will get under way after the lockdown period has ended, so if anyone knows of someone who can fit into the very large footprint that Gail leaves, please get in touch.

- Marion Read, Library Manager
