Coming soon: a new online catalogue is on the way

We have been busy behind the scenes, getting ready for a major software upgrade.

At the end of June, we will launch a new online catalogue for our collections and services.

Why are we making this change?

After more than 10 years with our current software, it’s time to refresh and modernise how we manage and provide access to our collection and services.

We’re really looking forward to bringing you an improved, more user-friendly catalogue. With a much clearer layout and easy navigation, the new system will allow you to search, browse and enjoy our collection with more ease and convenience. Less time wondering how to find an item, more time discovering great stories!

Switching to the new software also paves the way for joining the SMART libraries network in the future, offering access to Hutt City, Porirua, Kāpiti Coast District, Masterton, Wairarapa Library Services, as well as WelTec and Whitireia Libraries.

What does this software change mean for customers?

For now, please keep using our collections and services as you would normally.

In the next few weeks, we will share detailed information about the upgrade here on our website, at our libraries, with our newsletter subscribers, and on our Facebook page.

A significant amount of work has already gone into ensuring a smooth move to the new software. We’ll try to reduce disruption as much as possible, however be prepared that some services will be limited or paused for a while.

And good news: our Digital Library and website will continue to be available during the software upgrade, so we recommend you bookmark our website and download Libby, our fantastic app for eBooks, eAudio content, and more.
