Libby App
Libby is free to use and offers you 24/7 access to thousands of online titles, including eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines.
You can access the Libby collection either via the free app on your phone or tablet, or through the 'Borrow with OverDrive' function on your Kobo eReader device.
To log in: you will need to enter your Library Card number and PIN/password. The PIN/password is what you set up when joining the library and what you use to access My Account on the online catalogue.

Getting started with Libby
Download Libby from the App Store (Apple devices) or Google Play Store (Android devices).
To sign into Libby:
- Search for 'Lower North Island: Upper Hutt Libraries'.
- Enter your Library Card number and your PIN/password.
You will stay signed in unless you change to a new device. If you notice an issue with your Libby account, please contact us.
When you are signed into Libby, you can:
- Browse eBooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines.
- Search for books or authors by title, name, genre, format, or availability.
- Check your reserved items and borrowing history anytime.
- Return any borrowed items early, if you want to.
To borrow items, you need to be connected to WiFi or mobile data. Once items are ready on your online reading shelf, you can enjoy them anytime without WiFi or mobile data.
Customise how you read on Libby
The Libby app makes reading online simple and convenient, letting you customise your text and screen view.
On Libby, you can adjust the following:
- font size
- type of font, including dyslexia-friendly font
- line spacing in the text
- screen brightness
The Libby app is also set up to make it easy for you to manage favourites and reading lists. You can create your own custom tags, to help organise what you would like to read and keeping track of what you have borrowed before.
