You're invited to join us for a free illustrated presentation featuring works painted by the famous Pumpkin Cottage artists.
The Pumpkin Cottage school of en plein air impressionism is widely considered New Zealand’s first art movement. At this presentation, we're introducing an exciting new online resource which links paintings made by Pumpkin Cottage artists around early twentieth-century Silverstream with the local history of the area at the time.
It also attempts to place some of these iconic works into Silverstream's current landscape, tracing back to where they were originally painted.
This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the early history of Silverstream, and to see some of the artworks from the Whirinaki Whare Taonga Pumpkin Cottage Collection on display.
Light refreshments provided.
The presentation takes place in the Creative Classroom at Whirinaki Whare Taonga. Please use the centre's back entrance on Brown Street, next to H₂O Xtream.
We're hosting this event as part of Wellington Heritage Festival, alongside more than 160 events across the wider Wellington region from 24 October to 15 November 2026.
