As announced a few weeks ago, we are getting ready for a major catalogue, app, and system upgrade.

After more than 10 years with our current system, we are switching to a more user-friendly service, bringing you a fresh and modern way to browse and access our collections.

The new catalogue and library app will be available from Wednesday, 25 June.

Read on for key details, important dates, and FAQs.

Limited library services from 13-24 June

From 13-24 June, some library services will be limited. This is when all records and information will be copied and transferred from our current software to the new system.

Starting 13 June, our team will be using a simplified version of the new system. Things may take us a little longer while we settle into a new way of managing loans, returns, and more – thank you for your patience and understanding.

During this time:

  • You will be able to borrow items (including using our self-service kiosks), and you must bring your Library Card. If you don’t have your card with you, we won’t be able to issue anything to your library account.
  • Returns will be open and available. We’re extending all your current loans to 9 July – if possible, please hold on to your returns until after 25 June.
  • Placing new holds will be unavailable, but you will be able to pick up holds that are ready for you to borrow. Existing holds on your account will transfer straight over to the new system.
  • Our current catalogue, My Account, and library app will be available – however, the information you see won’t be up to date. For example: if you return items on 16 June, they will still show on your account until the system upgrade is completed on 25 June.

The following services and resources will be available as usual:

What you need to do before 13 June

  • Have lost or need to replace your library card? Please visit us so we can issue you with a free replacement card.
  • If you use My Lists on the current catalogue, please take a screenshot, photo, or written notes. Unfortunately, My Lists will not transfer over to the new system. You will be able to use a similar feature on the new catalogue – our team will be happy to help you set this up from 25 June.

Using the new catalogue and app from 25 June

From 25 June, our library services will return to business as usual.

When you log into My Account on the new catalogue or on the new app, you will be prompted to reset your PIN/password*. Once logged in, all your loans, holds, and information will be ready to view.

We will share step-by-step instructions for using the new catalogue when it is available on 25 June. If you need any help getting started, please reach out to our friendly team.

* Please note: resetting this PIN/password will also mean that you'll need to log in again if you use the Libby eBook app or other online resources from our Digital Library

We’re really looking forward to completing this project and getting the new catalogue and app ready for our customers to use.

Stay up to date and keep an eye on our updates board in the foyer! We will share daily updates about how the system upgrade is going.
