Get ready! The Wellington Heritage Festival starts on 23 October, and this year Upper Hutt has a record number of 14 events happening near you. 

Mark the date in your calendar – 23 October to 5 November – because you won’t want to miss out on this exciting opportunity to connect with and explore the rich and colourful history and culture that has shaped Upper Hutt and its people. 

With such a diverse range of events, there will be something to suit everyone, no matter their age or ability. Come join us in celebrating our local heritage and culture. Your support will help grow our community’s identity and sense of belonging, and foster a link to our past, people and places.

When you are ready to explore beyond our backyard, this year’s festival promises to be bigger, bolder, and more vibrant than ever before – with 100 events across Wellington region. 

There are events centred on mana whenua histories, tours of graveyards and heritage landmarks, stories about well-known historic figures from the arts, culture and rainbow communities, lots of vintage cars and machinery on show, and sneak peeks behind the scenes at Hannah Playhouse and City Archives.
