Spring has sprung in Upper Hutt!

While friends and family in the Northern Hemisphere are picking and carving their pumpkins for Halloween, here in New Zealand it is time to prep soil and plant pumpkins seeds ready for harvesting in autumn next year.

Join us for a free talk by local gardener Hannah Dawson about growing plants in the cucurbit family (including pumpkin, squash, and cucumber). Think delicious roast vegetables, tasty pickles, and fresh salad ingredients.

This event also includes a working bee for the Upper Hutt Seed Bank, where we will process and package up seeds to make them available through the Seed Bank at our Central Library.

This is a family-friendly event. Nau mai, haere mai – everyone welcome.
