Cosmic Art Gallery: a Fiero Code Competition
Art and space join forces to bring you the second exciting Fiero Code Challenge of the year.
Do you have a young person in your family or whānau who is a fan of all things space? This challenge gives them the opportunity to channel their enthusiasm into a fun coding project.
Cosmic Art Gallery is here to encourage our young coders’ skills as website developers.
The challenge: use HTML/CSS/JS to build a gallery website for hosting images and artwork of planets and stars.
The reward: be in to win to awesome tech prizes, like Makey Makeys, code-able robots, and more.
The challenge runs from 1 June 2025 to 31 July 2025 and is open for ages 8 to 18.
Fiero Code: a digital playground for young learners
Designed with different learning styles in mind, Fiero Code is perfect for introducing beginner coders to basic concepts and a range of widely used programming languages.
We encourage kids and rangatahi (teens) with coding experience to stretch their wings, apply their tech know-how, and showcase their skills.
Challenges like Fiero Code's Cosmic Art Gallery are perfect for building problem-solving skills and critical thinking.

Did you know: one of our Upper Hutt contestants won a prize in the last competition
Congratulations to Upper Hutt participant Nihal4ever! They submitted a fantastic entry in Fiero Code's Arctic Adventure competition earlier this year and won third place in the category for ages 8-12.
Built using Code Blocks, their game "Zero Degree Verse" is an exciting quest through the vast wilderness of a snowy landscape. It features alien opponents and a thrilling race to reclaim a stolen crown. Read more and see the game (including code) on the Fiero Code blog.
What are the criteria for judging?
Entries are graded on: completion of the challenge requirements; creativity; and difficulty.
The team at Fiero Code will be judging entries and decide on the winners.

I'm new to Fiero Code. What can you learn with it?
Fiero Code is a learn-to-code software, perfect for beginner coders, especially young learners.
It teaches skills for making websites, apps, programs, animations, and video games. You will learn how to use common scripting languages like JavaScript and Python but also block-based coding language similar to Scratch.
