Upper Hutt Libraries launches “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) Printing today to better support the needs of our community.

Our community want the flexibility to work where they want, when they want, and on whatever device they choose to work from. With BYOD Printing there is no longer a need for memory sticks or installing print drivers, it works seamlessly and requires no extra hardware or software.

BYOD Printing allows our community to print remotely from anywhere and on any device to our authorised printers at our Libraries.  It supports printing from smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices as well as virtual and physical desktops and laptops.

It is a quicker print solution as customers no longer need to be physically present at our libraries to print their documents and they do not need to print using our Chromebook devices onsite.

The print solution is easy to use.  Customers find the document they would like to print and send it as an attachment to monitor@print.apnk.nz making sure to leave the subject line blank. They will receive a confirmation email approximately three minutes later with a JOB ID. They then come into Central or Pinehaven Libraries at their convenience during our opening hours and present the JOB ID to our staff.  Our staff will look up the print job and send it to the printer.

In short, BYOD Printing simply requests a customer to email the desired print job to our authorised printers and we release it to the printer only upon request.

Anyone can access the new BYOD Printing services and do not need to be a member of Upper Hutt Libraries to do so.

There is a standard charge for printing which is $0.20 for one page of black and white printing and $1.00 for one page of coloured printing.
